toysrevil's top 6 vinyl toys of 2006 countdown: number 6

what makes a "favourite toy" a "favourite"?
= for me personally, it's the design, characterization, style, color integrity, the backstories that brings them to life and the stories that surrounds the figure's "history", ie: how did i get it? why do i have it? etc (i'll try to keep the stories short, i promise okay? ;p)

and with that, as mentioned earlier: here's a countdown of my own personal favouritest Top 6 Vinyl Toys of 2006 ("six" becoz it's 2006, innit? *heh*) ~ starting with Number 6 = Jim Woodring's Frank Toys Boxed Set from Presspop!

i've always been (and still am) a huge fan of Jim Woodring's comics and graphic novels (i've the collection to prove it muahahaha) and loved Frank, Pupshaw, Pushpaw and all the gorgeous visceral surreality of Woodring's mindart ... and when i found them in vinyl-form online, i knew i had to have them.

first saw them up-close and personal at the Adventures in GoKitsch-launch, but alas, my sickly-finances could not allow me the splurge and all i had were my unrequited vinyl-desires (*sob*). then one fine day, Carl (owner of GoKitsch) mentioned the magic word: "discount" and i had just gotten paid from a long-outstanding account and had wanted to give myself a treat, and i did. it all fell into place at the same time. nothing really beats the satisfaction and joy of being able to own something that you liked but could not get in the first place. and i am happy with the purchase still :)

the figures are literally an exact vinyl-copy of Jim Woodring's 2D-drawings come to 3D-life! coupled with vibrant colors, the Frank-in-headlights-look and the silly grins, this figure set warms my heart whenever i look at them :)

and one day, when my current-finances are a bit "healthier", i'd wanna lay my hands on the Black and White Version ... *heh*
