OUIP-01

From a conceptual "light-bulb" to an actual vinyl figure, Korean toy-makers DELITOYS (short for "Delicatessen of interesting toys" and/or "Delicious Toys") presents their DIY Platform figure dubbed "OUIP" - which has since been launched in Korea only just :)

Currently only the 8-incher tall version is available, in both DIY-Normal and GID (Glow-in-the-Dark) versions, while the petit 2.5-incher awaits the green-light to go ahead (heh). OUIP will be available in Korea via www.kinkirobot.com, while Delitoys are still looking for overseas distributers (e-me if you're interested retailer-frens) ... meanwhile CLICKETH to peep more pics of OUIP and to read a short Q&A I had with Youngmin Cho of Delitoys - about the meaning of the toy-name and plans for the immediate future :)

TOYSREVIL: What does "OUIP" mean? In English? Korean?

YOUNGMIN CHO: OUIP does not have any special meaning, but it's from French word "oui" for "yes" - in English we just put the alphabet "p" to the "oui" and one more reason to make our platform toy's name as a OUIP is that it's easy to express light bulb with the word starting alphabet 'O' :)

TRE: And it may sound like someone's expression when they flick on the light-switch in a dark room to see the OUIP figure LOL - how big are they? I see two versions in the pictures - how many versions are there?

YMC: There are two size, 8 inch and 2.5 inch tall. We are going to concentrate on the 8 inch model.

There are two kinds of DIY versions for the 8 inch OUIPs - the Normal and GID (Glow In The Dark), which will be released early June in Korea first :)

TRE: Well, the 2.5-inchers look really yummy lined-up in a box like that, Youngmin! LOL ... I personally like the transition from Bulb to Toy-Body - fluid-lines for a not-too-regular shape, while retaining the round-headshape, as well as the body-base of a bulb (I can imagine the head being "screwed" out LOL) ... can any overseas / non-Korean-based collectors currently get ahold of a OUIP for themselves, via online sales? How about retailers?

YMC: In near future, we are going to distribute our OUIP to www.kinkirobot.com in Korea, and we are finding overseas distributers soon as well, so do feel free to let us know about the distributers or retailers who are interested in our OUIP :) ... and no, unfortunately we don't have any plan for online sales yet.

TRE: Retailers take note! And hobbyists - go bug your retailers! LOL - What else is happening next for OUIP after the launch? Any special activities and/or promotions planned?

YOUNGMIN CHO: There will be an exhibition featuring various artists including fine art, graffiti, illustration, fashion, street scene - with the theme "OUIP LOVES ARTISTS" to be held in late July ... and we gonna keep you posted about the ouip-related things on a regular basis :)

TOYSREVIL: Awright! Cheers for the trouble and looking forward to more OUIP- news, Youngmin!
