Toy-Review: Rude Copper by Apologies To Banksy

UK-based outfit "Apologies To Banksy" has relaunched their product lines, featuring vinylized collectibles based on characters seen in Banksy graffiti / street art. Today I'll take a closer look at RUDE COPPER.

One obvious visual change, starts with the packaging of the figure, now in a new box printed design, which carries thru the other product lines as well, save for the description of the item. The grey and blacks were a nice contrast to the DIY whites and single colored pieces within. Truthfully, a far better improvement over the earlier boxes, and as well evokes a sense of "seriousness" in their line, IMHO.

I personally like and appreciate the unifying aspect of the design, which at the same time promotes ATB's online venues, something I've not seen much in current packaging.

Two other differences with the earlier incarnation:

(A) The new pieces comes in a sealed silver foil bag.

(B) The earlier edition came with paints and a brush, this version does not.

The RUDE COPPER vinyl figure form itself remains essentially the same as their earlier release, but this newer version "is smoother, softer & whiter than its predecessor" -mentioned David of ATB, and without putting a previous piece right next to this in comparison, I would agree with that statement.

The details seem somewhat more defined as well, but that might well be the result of the "whiteness" of the piece. Standing 6 inches tall, the finishing surface also seems less matt than the earlier incarnation.

Unlike the myriad of 'toy' collectibles that populate this wondrous 'art toy' community of ours, this piece (and s well others in the current ATB-line) is an "anomaly", as it is based of 'deigns' by an artist(s) known only by his/their moniker, and not necessarily designed by himself/themselves (Yes, I do wonder if "Banksy" is a collective of folks rather than an individual) - and yet falls within the subculture / urban street art aspect of the scene.
TAGLINE: "It’s a punk subversion of the British Police Officer being a member of the Establishment. Giving the middle finger to capitalism and the hierarchical bureaucracy raising the game in highlighting what all quite frankly us common folks think of the problems within society today."

Rude Copper "White" is priced at £12.99 and available via apologiestobanksy.com and select retailers (Distribution by DKE Toys). Currently only WHITE is available. Previous colorways are no longer available at the online shop.

Seen above alongside the 6-incher Rude Copper is the new min version, which we will have a closer look at next. Meanwhile, more images has been uploaded HERE on my dedicated album on Facebook!
