Banksy's Dismaland Bemusement Park is THE destination of 2015

It's Friday morning in Singapore, and I found myself getting somewhat quite obsessed with Banksy's DISMALAND Bemusement Park - what with still snaps of the locale and park drawing to tease the senses, and subsequent videos to outright tantalize a person like myself, who never aspired to visit any amusement parks (I'm looking at you "Disneyland") but am now gagging to breathe in the atmosphere of "Dismaland".

Join us for a guided tour of Banksy's new show "Dismaland" in Weston-super-Mare, UK. Info: www.artfido.com/blog/banksy-is-back-with-new-tropicana-show-in-weston/

Without a sliver of a doubt, Banksy's Dismaland is a swipe at "Disneyland", erected based on a premise to "bemuse" rather than "amuse", and features the usual Banksy-styled twist to everyday controversy with a cheeky smirk and hooded smile. And I like what I see on the internets!

Currently billed as a "grafitti artist", Banksy has since elevated himself beyond such simplistic terms unto a larger stage of "art", for all intents and purposes, methinks.

People have been referring to this as a "dystopian" or "apocalyptic future" ... but it is Not "the future", this is NOW. This is the world we live in right this second, according to Banksy, it seems.

So, what's the big fuss? What will be at Dismaland? These are just SOME spots to visit (full listing here):

*Cinderella’s Castle = "Step inside the fairytale and see how it feels to be a real princess. Souvenir photos available."
*Water Cannon Creek = "An armour plated riot control vehicle built to serve on the streets of Northern Ireland. Equipped with sniper posts, grenade launchers and now – a children’s slide."
*Circus Tent = "A gothic sculpture park in a tiny big top tent."

Besides the carnival floor installations, there is as well an indoor exhibition featuring artworks from over 50 artists from 17 different countries – including names like Damien Hirst, Jenny Holzer and Jimmy Cauty (Full Listing Here).

"Dismaland" is situated on the seafront in Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset, United Kingdom, and housed in "The Tropicana", to which Banksy himself shared;
"I loved the Tropicana as a kid, so getting to throw these doors open again is a real honour. I hope everyone from Weston will take the opportunity to once more stand in a puddle of murky water eating cold chips to the sound of crying children." (artfido.com)

Dismaland opens everyday from August 22nd thru to September 27th, and is a ticketed entry. Tickets must be bought in advance their new website www.dismaland.co.uk.

Sept 27th is my birthday, and this would be the absolutely most bestest "present" I would have the honor to experience in my adult life, thanks :)

Cheers and much love,
Andy

Banksy's Dismaland features migrant boats, dead princesses and the artist's trademark dark humour. Krishnan Guru Murthy went to see the family theme park described as "unsuitable for young children." www.channel4.com/news/dismaland-banksy-bemusement-park-shocking-funny-extraordinary
