Kathie Olivas & Brandt Peters' "Calliope" Kickstarter Cancelled

NEWSFLASH: Kathie Olivas & Brandt Peters' "Calliope" stop-motion animated short film (previously featured) on Kickstarter has since been CANCELLED. Kathie Olivas added (on Facebook):
"It was just bad timing; the art scene has had a hard time bouncing back from the recession-- just not many people buying art right now. I think this is a project we just need to try to do in baby steps...we're sad about it, but we always try to approach these projects with optimism-- you never know when the time is right unless you keep trying."

They have our best wishes whatever their decision may have been. Meanwhile, you can read the following announcement (in full) posted on Brandt's Facebook;
"Dear friends and supporters,

Last week we announced a Kickstarter campaign to fund a stop-motion animated short film Calliope, based on Kathie’s classic toy character Calliope Jackalope. Based on the initial response and some valuable feedback we’ve received from backers, friends, and colleagues, we’ve decided to shut down the Kickstarter campaign.

We’ve been developing these ideas and characters for almost 15 years and we remain committed to telling the stories of Calliope Jackalope and Stingy Jack, whether as an animated short, a feature length film, a graphic novel, or a series of comic books. And we hope to continue work on the Calliope stop-motion short in 2016.

In the immediate future, we will be focused on Designer Con, which will be held in Pasadena on November 21 and 22. Fans in attendance will be able to purchase hand painted custom resin figures, hand-airbrushed custom Clyde "sofubi" figures by Brandt based on Mutant Vinyl Hardcore's and Brandt's collaborative figure DX Sludge Demon Clyde… and many more surprises we can’t tell you about yet!

We want to thank everyone who supported this project by backing it and helping us spread the word. Your support means so much to us. If you want the latest updates on Calliope, you can follow Circus Posterus on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or visit www.circusposterus.com. And if you find yourself in Albuquerque, New Mexico, you can visit our flagship store and gallery, Stranger Factory.

Thanks,
Brandt Peters & Kathie Olivas"
