Graffitti Wall - Seen @ STGCC 2011

As mentioned in my earlier posted wrap-up, one of the interesting aspects of Singapore Toy, Games & Comic Convention 2011 [www / Tagged] - was the "Graffitti Wall" - which was not "selling" anything, but welcomed the involvement of the attendees putting their mark on the paper surface.

And while there was a serious lack of Western-styled 'tagging', there were a whole lot of japanese-influenced sketches, and western movie and comicbook characters dominating the white space. This sure is a measured indication of the (participatory) attendee-demographics right there. And while urban arts might choose not to be involved in this venture, that might well 'alienate' the level of involvement in future of said genre, for which I can only hope I am absolutely wrong about, and be able to see a stronger presence of, in 2012, and years to come.

Interestingly. the concept of a on-spot mural wall started out as a platform for invited artists to do instead, surely a media-op for folks to cover. Nice the direction now is diverted to attendees instead, IMHO.
