New SUCKPANELS by The Sucklord for 2017

Besides his by now infamous “bootlegged” resin figures enjoyed by fans and “the scene” thru the years - created literally off of existing action figure in pop culture implosion mash-ups - the artist know as THE SUCKLORD has in recent years delved into the “art” aspect of commerciality (by my impressions) with his “SUCKPANEL” continuing series - utilising existing vintage magazine page ads as “blister card backs”, along with paint accents, of course, with vintage Action figure under plastic bubble casing.

Said vintage pages are then mounted on 1/2" plywood (in this latest instance, anyways) with “hardware mounted on the back for easy wall hanging” - for that thrift-store aesthetic X lowbrow art spirit.

The result is a match-up of mixed memories both play and pop culture, and to me is the sum of more than just it’s aesthetic, or “quirky” face value.

As well the one-off SUCKPANELS are as well slightly more “PG”-rated, as compared to his limited runs of bootlegged figurines, which sometimes evoke rude and/or controversial themes on the figurines themselves, which in turn provide that extra nudge off the razor’s edge of contemporary “taste”, and gives it that unique flavour that folks have wont to emulate, but sometimes turning up not-so-tasty, IMHO.

Currently listed on suckadelic.myshopify.com are over 20 new One-of-a-Kind Suckpanels, each priced at US$100. Hardly “thrift-store pricing” but hella toy + pop culture nod for the subculture we dwell in, IMHO.
