TAIPEI TOY FESTIVAL 2017 (Oct 7-10)

The 2017 Edition of the annual TAIPEI TOY FESTIVAL happens this year between October 7th, thru to the 10th, 2017. Exhibiting from Saturday thru to a Tuesday, is an interesting time-belt to commit to this year, considering the two-working days on Monday and Tuesday - which technically IS “work”, if you are IN this industry, isn’t it haha

Featured up top is this year’s poster designed by KONATSU. Featured below are both Floor Plans (with Vendors List) and Event Schedule for what is to happen at this 4-Day event, and as well a handy “exclusives” listing! (www.taipei-toyfestival.com).

Organised by Monster Taipei, this year is the 14th Edition, and everything looks pretty well planned out, only exception being all the promo ads/materials are in Mandarin text, making this event purely focused on the Chinese-speaking market, IMO. Nevertheless, this will be my 11th year covering the event online - since 2007 - and I've yet to set foot in TTF itself, regrettably -.-"

TTF2017 Floor Plan & Schedule

I have attempted to feature as many interesting vendors and products as I can, and there is much more to be found here on Facebook. Unlike their counterparts for New York Comic Con 2017 (Oct 5-8), folks and organizers for Taipei Toy Festival 2017 (Oct 7-10) do not promote their own products beyond their own social streams.

Be that as it may, the line-up for TTF looks decidedly fabulous, and especially when they focus on the subculture of toys/collectibles/art versus the addition of “media” for NYCC, IMHO.

TTF2017 Exclusives List

There will be two art exhibitions attached to the event: “KAIJU HUNTING” from Paradise Toys (where the "the Invisible Hunting" Set will debut), and “Dream Forest” - featuring the art of Kenny Wong x Pucky.

There is also the PISSPEACE KXX 2017 SOLO EXHIBITION by KEA held at China 1914 Text 1914 & 1 B Pavilion 1 F.

The AUCTION component to the event will happen on the main stage in the exhibition venue.

The venue is HUASHAN1914 CREATIVE PARK (No.1, Sec. 1, Bade Rd., Zhongzheng Dist., Taipei City , Taiwan), and there is a NEW “Admission Guideline” to this year’s event, via Lottery!
"To improve our exhibition admission process and for the well-being of our attendees, TTF has announced new admission guidelines, to be determined by lottery on the first two mornings of this year's event (10/7 & 10/8).

Meanwhile, the TTF will only allow one queuing entry line. Whether it is to go to the East 2 Exhibition Hall or to Central 4B Hall, there will be only one line.
Please refer to the following rules in detail about the lottery admission process on 10/7 & 10/8."
(You can read the Rules here on Facebook, or just scroll down this post)

There is actually a story to the event poster too!

"Today is just like any other day. Nothing out of the ordinary in the city. But then, out of nowhere, a feline monster appears. An immense cat monster. The Negora.

Negora has personality traits and behaviors like an ordinary house cat but is the size of Godzilla. It plays with the grounded airplane, and it climbs skyscrapers. What would normally be cute feline playfulness becomes devastating. It sends cars flying with a swat of its paws and blocks traffic, inflicting terrifying destruction. Its increasing threats create suffering and danger for the townspeople. The city legislators, instead of killing the giant cat, pass a bill to officially adopt the Negora. As a provision of the new law, the Taipei Toyland is born: a large-scale, twenty-four hour amusement park designed for the Negora to live and play happily without hurting people. Its streets are stocked with toys: giant mouse toys, and other cat playthings. It also has a cat tower about 450 meters high.

In order to lure Negora into Taipei Toyland, the townspeople mix sleeping pills into tuna for the Negora to eat in the fish market. They take the now sleeping Negora to the Toyland, where it can be happy. Other feline monsters such as Migora and Shibara are later captured and taken to the new Negora habitat. Negora and its monster friends are free to live happily ever after in the Taipei Toyland! They will never escapt to the human living city to cause mischief. Tourists from all over the world come to see these cute and unique monsters. The souvenir shops in the park offers many commemorative merchandise, and Negora vinyl toys are the most popular!"
